Genting Hong Kong, the company that owns casino-centric Star Cruises and recently purchased Crystal Cruises, is getting set to launch what they call China’s first premium cruise line, Dream Cruises.
The new line will debut its first ship, the Genting Dream, in November 2016, and a second ship, the World Dream, a year later.
The new cruise line has been in the works for three years; the company claims its ships will be the most spacious in Asia. The Genting Dream will carry 3,400 guests and feature more than 35 restaurants and bars, a beauty salon, a wrap-around promenade, and Asian and Western spas. The ship will homeport in Guangzhou and Sanya in China, and in Hong Kong.
Genting Hong Kong bought Crystal Cruises last March. Dream Cruises will be its third cruise brand. The company envisions Dream cruises taking over the premium segment, Crystal the luxury segment, and Star Cruises the mainstream segment.
