One of my all time favourite ships, the Crystal Symphony, has just emerged from a $15 million redesign and will soon be gracing the waters of Asia and Australasia.
Right now Crystal are offering super deals on “Book Now” fares until October 31.
My favourite itinerary coming up is from Bali to Singapore or vice-versa.
As Crystal says:
Native dancers. An Emmy award-winning Bali anthropologist/filmmaker. Arguably the island’s most renowned traditional chef. These are some of the highlights of four new fall/winter voyages that begin or end in Bali.
Each of the 12- to 14-day voyages between Bali and Singapore aboard Crystal Symphony will feature onboard performances by local Kecak dancers, with approximately 100 men depicting the epic Hindu battle of Ramayana, and Dr. Lawrence Blair, a Bali resident and anthropological expert. Dr. Blair will share personal tales from his Emmy Award-winning PBS series; his book Ring of Fire, which explores the region’s volcanic eruptions, gypsy pirates, and man-eating animals (and people); and his own homesteading in a Balinese village.
In addition, the Jan. 5 sailing will also feature Heinz von Holzen, a Bali local and chef of the island’s only authentic Balinese cuisine restaurant. Chef von Holzen will share his latest modern-meets-traditional recipes in hands-on cooking classes. He also will present demonstrations, a guest chef dinner for all, and a limited-availability Vintage Room dinner featuring multiple courses of secret dishes, each perfectly paired with rare wines.
Ashore, guests will have the opportunity to ride an elephant through the forest, step inside temples that were once reserved for the rajas (monarchs), learn how traditional batik and other crafts are made, visit local villages and residences, taste and make more traditional dishes, view volcano vistas and rice paddies, and experience other ancient stories through music, such as a Barong dance.
Crystal Symphony also will call in several other Indonesian ports, as well as ports in Australia and Southeast Asia, depending on the cruise. For guests with less time, shorter “Getaway” segments are available on the 2014 sailings. “Book Now” fares are available until October 31, 2014. CRYSTAL
