Heritage Line has announced that their new luxury paddle-wheeler, the Anawrahta, will commence operations with an inaugural sailing on 4 March 2016 from Yangon, upstream to Bagan.
Maarten Perdok, Managing Director of Heritage Line, stated that the final licensing documents were signed by officials under the auspices of H.E. U Htay Aung, Minister of Hotel and Transport.
“We are proud to be officially flying the flag of Myanmar and sailing the historic waters of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) and Chindwin Rivers.”
The newest addition to the Heritage Line boutique luxury fleet will have 23 all-balconied staterooms: 16 Deluxe cabins measure over 32 sq. meters/344 sq. ft.; 7 Suites range from Junior 48 sq. meters/517 sq. ft. to Executive 59 sq. meters/635 sq. ft. and Palatial Royal Suites measuring 86 sq. meters/926 sq. ft. each one with a private outdoor Jacuzzi. The ship also features a large picture-windowed dining hall, spa, Jacuzzi-plunge pool and cabanas on the Sun Deck.
The Anawrahta will operate 7 different itineraries ranging from 4-nights between Bagan and Mandalay; 6-nights between Bagan and Yangon; 7-nights from Mandalay to Shwe Paw Kyun passing the Second Defile and 7-nights between Yangon and Bagan. In addition, there will be two exotic 11-night voyages – the first, departing Mandalay up the Chindwin to Homelin and returning to Bagan. The second, will be a detailed sailing from Yangon up to Mandalay.
Nelson Balilo, Director of Sales & Marketing for the line, has added two special holiday sailings for the end of the year.
“The first will be a 7-night Christmas Cruise departing and returning to Mandalay sailing to Salay. This cruise departs 19 December and returns 26 December.
